2024 Electrical Safety Workshop Summary
The IEEE Industrial Applications Society (IAS) Electrical Safety Workshop (ESW) took place in Tucson, Arizona from March 4-8, 2024. It was an exciting event for the 572 attendees who participated in the educational sessions, including tutorials, technical papers, standards development, a student program, Electrical Safety Products and Services Expo, and guest activities.
Of the 572 attendees, 216 attended the event for the first time, indicating that the workshop continues to attract a new audience interested in electrical safety. The event included 31 papers presented over several days covering a wide range of topics related to electrical safety. Additionally, seven tutorials provided for 587 spaces for attendees interested in learning more about specific aspects of electrical safety. These attendees also gained continuing education credits.
The IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Workshop also included four awards that recognized exceptional contributions to the field of electrical safety.

- Excellence in Prevention through Design Award: Nehad El-Sherif
- Technical Achievement Award: Marcia B. Eblen and Tom A. Short
- Young Professional Achievement Award: Daniel Majano
These awards are an essential part of the event, as they highlight the achievements of individuals and organizations making a significant impact in the field. The William C. Jordan Award was not awarded this year.
The Electrical Safety Products and Services Expo was another event highlight, featuring 57 exhibit booths showcasing the latest electrical safety products and services. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with manufacturers and suppliers, learn about new products and services, and network with industry professionals.
