Call for Proposals - ESW 2025
The IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Committee is requesting proposals for original, previously unpublished technical papers and tutorials for presentation at the 2025 IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Workshop (ESW).

Topics of technical papers and tutorials should advance the Mission of the ESW:
- To accelerate the application of breakthrough improvements in human factors, technology, and managing systems that reduce risk of electrical injuries;
- To stimulate innovation in overcoming barriers;
- To change and advance the electrical safety culture to enable sustainable improvements in prevention of electrical incidents and injuries.
Technical Papers: The final paper should be about 2-10 pages in length and written in accordance with the IEEE ESW Style Guide.
Presentation Formats: Authors may choose one of 3 formats for presentation.

- Full-length presentations are generally 45 minutes.
- Incident case histories are generally limited to 15 minutes.
- Focus sessions display conference size (36×48 inches) posters of the paper. This format allows an opportunity for the presenter to have in-depth discussions with small groups of attendees during the Focus Session.
Approximate Schedule for Authors:

- June 24 – Authors notified of proposal acceptance
- October 4 – Completed draft papers are dues
- November 8 – Comments to draft papers from ESW returned to authors
- December 6 – Final papers are due
- December 8 – Completed draft presentations/posters for review are due
- December 22 – Comments to draft presentations/posters returned to authors
- January 10 – Final presentation/posters are due
Paper Publication: Presented papers will be published in the Conference Record and submitted to IEEE Xplore®, the world’s largest on-line technical library. Papers with exceptional impact will be considered for further publication in IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications or IEEE Industry Applications Magazine. Papers that are not presented at the workshop will not be published in the Conference Record, IEEE Xplore®, or be eligible for further publication.
IEEE Copyright: After notice of acceptance, authors are required to complete and submit an IEEE copyright form and verify the paper is original and not previously published.
Tutorials: These are typically 4 hours in length and are presented either right before the main technical program or right after. Note: tutorials are not published and are not subject to IEEE Copyright.
Workshop Registration: Please note that IEEE does not waive conference registration for authors and speakers. Authors must register as attendees.

Without help, preparing papers and presentations may seem formidable and intimidating to some of us. We want to encourage developing previously unpublished technical papers for presentation at the 2024 IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Workshop (ESW) by providing mentoring. We have mentors who are experienced in having presented several papers and presentations and are ready to mentor others. Please contact Al Havens or Lloyd Gordon for more information.
